大唐盛世，唐明皇李隆基（唐国强饰）与年轻美貌的杨贵妃（王璐瑶饰）夜夜笙歌，使“患难之妻”梅妃（吕丽萍饰）陷入凄凉境地，这引发了梅妃和贵妃之间的宫廷争ccc。梅妃将歌喉迷人的许合子（马苏饰）献给明皇，明皇封其为歌妃。合子却无意荣华富贵。飘逸如仙的李白（孙海英饰）英雄无用武之地，失意中结识同为天涯沦落人的合子，李白为不畏强权的合子心动，决心不惜触怒龙颜，助合子逃离宫闱一臂之力。而合子青梅竹马的恋人书生尹梦荷也为了解救心上人不惜依附太子李亨，成为李亨谋权篡位的一颗棋子。安禄山谋反将大唐盛世推向衰败，合子与梦荷的爱情也由此卷入乱世间的权力之争……
